On Tuesday I met up with my good Latino friends and made a spontaneous excursion to the Oxelösund archipelago. As a filmmaker and nature lover, I rarely say no to nature experiences and am happy to bring my camera.
There is something deeply peaceful about being completely surrounded by water and small islands. We went to a small island half an hour from the port of Oxelösund. Oscar also brought a bluetooth speaker so we could listen to some nice music, which made it even more idyllic!
As the day drew to a close we were lucky enough to witness a magical sunset and a few minutes later the moon rose in the east. Filming the sunset and moonrise is quite challenging because there are such great contrasts between the light and dark parts of the sky. The higher the dynamic range the camera has, the easier it is to get the most out of the footage. I also brought my drone to get more unique perspectives. Launching and landing the drone on the boat was a new experience for me, but it went pretty smoothly.
For me, it's always a balance when I take the camera with me to various events and happenings. The camera is just a tool to document what is, if it then becomes a film of the experience, fun! But it's a by-product rather than the main purpose of the trip, the event or whatever I'm doing. I managed to capture both playful interactions with my friends and peaceful moments where the boat glides quietly over the mirror-like water.. And the final film turned out great! Surprisingly good. It truly reflects our experience. Feel free to watch the film and be inspired by the Swedish archipelago:
For me, films are the optimal way to inspire, highlight and activate something in the viewer. It may not be for everyone, but many can benefit from the movies I create, either directly or subconsciously. They are a bit of the purpose why I keep creating.
