During the Summer and Winter Games in Tokyo and Beijing, I worked as a Digital Sports Editor consultant for Discovery+, creating daily highlight reels and recaps for discoveryplus.se.
In the summer of 2021, I had the opportunity to assist the digital team at Discovery+ with highlight editing during the Tokyo Summer Games. I worked as a consultant, and my task was to extract highlights from the matches and compile them for DiscoveryPlus' digital platform. About ten of us worked in shifts during these intense weeks to cover as much as possible. In addition to covering individual matches, I often created daily highlight reels, focusing on the performance of Swedish athletes. We were all based across Sweden, so communication was done via Slack, which worked incredibly well. The following year, I was also asked to cover the Winter Games in Beijing, to which I gladly agreed.
It was a tough assignment that I had to work hard to navigate without burning myself out completely. I am grateful for the opportunity but have realized that I prefer working under less pressured conditions.
